Currently GIDSS is working on many projects to help Canadians by all means. Right now (from last two years) more than 500 youth mostly from visible minorities group in Canada are helping in the following projects as volunteers (in-person and from home): GetConnect: GIDSS is building a Canada wide networking site for the employers and Canadians who are looking for jobs internships and volunteer opportunities in Canada. In the last year the GIDSS team helped so many youth and newcomers with this project. A Mobile App for this project is also available. Till date this projects has helped more than 2000 Canadians et job internship or volunteer opportunities. (www.GetConnect.online) Onlinethali & GIDSS Food Bank: This is a unique project launched by GIDSS as a food bank (approved by CRA & Charity Directorate and supported by the Government of Canada) providing cooked and healthy food to needy people especially youth seniors people with disabilities and victims of violence. In the last 2 years the GIDSS team has distributed more than 30 000 free cooked meals in the peel region with the help of our wonderful volunteers. (www.gidssfoodbank.com) Empowering Seniors with Technology & Functional Literacy: GIDSS team has so far helped more than 10000 seniors in Ontario to learn technology by in-person training and our mentorship program. With the help of our seniors’ team and more than 300 high school students this could be possible. GIDSS IT team has designed many online modules for teaching seniors about technology & functional literacy and also the use of social media for their entertainment. An online Bingo and other similar activities were started to involve seniors throughout the year.
