About Friends in Toronto Community Services

Friends in Toronto delivers programs for families living in poverty. Our afterschool program develops leadership skills academic ability and team work. We provide healthy snacks to these youth and a safe alternative to the streets. Through our recreation dance program we build the self worth confidence and resiliency of children and youth who face financial barriers. Improving academic outcomes for low income and racialized population is the focus of our education program; tutoring advocacy; parent engagement workshops to increase the success of black and racialized families. Each year we host a holiday drive where we provide food and Christmas gifts to families who are facing financial barriers. We develop the leadership skills of youth through our gender specific programs and work to support youth in expressing their lived experiences and create opportunities for themselves. creating a safe community through community arts programs that reduce barriers stereotypes isolation throughout the community and bring residents together to foster community spirit which also improves community safety. Through our Skill building workshops we deliver training on anti-racism anti-black racism understanding racialized youth and parent workshops. COLLECTING DONATIONS AND SPENDING IN CHARITABLE PROJECT EXPENSES. Youth Justice program designed to provide Black and raciazlized youth in conflict with law through restorative justice healing circles.
