Promote and perform maintenance on the historic Goat River Trail the East Twin-Chalco Trail a section of the Great Divide Trail and other sections of the National Hiking Trail in B.C. Maintain a website to discuss activities and highlight regional conservation and environmental issues. Participate in public education programs on endangered and vulnerable species (mountain caribou Pacific salmon bull trout); sometimes in coalition or participation with other groups. Provide bursaries to graduating students at each of the three local secondary schools. Assess specific private properties for conservation values; and if warranted recommend purchase to other habitat conservation organizations. We have participated in these purchases when funding was available. Work with private landowners to protect and restore habitat by excluding livestock and planting native trees and shrubs. Consult with government agencies private companies and other recreational and conservancy groups on land use issues Act as fiscal agents for groups with whom we have shared goals and/or on projects in alignment with our constitution priorities our status as a Registered Charity and other relevant factors.
