About Forest - Lambton Museum Society
Our summer students have a walking tour and brochure made so people can take the waking tour at their leisure. We initiated bicycle tours in 2023 and it was a huge success with full attendance at each tour set up twice a month. The tour went all around Forest to historical buildings and houses with a historical guide. We had several school groups visit the museum and encourage more to come next year. we attend and participate in the Steam Threshers reunion Forest Fall Fair sidewalk days downtown to promote the museum and history of our surrounding area. In 2024 we hosted an English Tea to help fund raise plus asked a local lavender and honey farm to come to our museum to give a presentation of their business. We had 20 people attend this presentation and plan to continue this with other local farmers and businesses. The museum is now open from May 24th to Oct 15 each year. Our summer students had made 2 tourism videos one for Forest and one for local beaches both showing tourist attractions and activities for those and surrounding areas. Hand painted Murals by local artists have been installed by the BIA of Forest in May 2023. Two of the murals are installed on the Museum building and one of our volunteers is the artist. The murals depict historical buildings or events to promote the history of Forest and surrounding area such as the railway and train station the building that now houses the museum from 1900 which was the Forest Home Bakery the main street of Forest orchards indigenous pictures and the Kineto Theatre. The historical theme of the murals will draw tourists to Forest and area. We are starting a Railway club consisting of model train enthusiasts who will build a structure to make a display of the Forest Railway station circa 1940-1950's. We hope this will bring tourists to our museum as well as promote the Railway history of our town and area. We are having local farmers and business come to give talks on their products and invite the public
