Environmental Education Commission

Environmental education to school aged children attending elementary junior high and high schools in the English School District Province or Newfoundland and Labrador. The school program operates in spring May June and then in autumn September-November. The students come to the Centre for two days and one night and are given experiential-based instruction in our natural environment covering forest and pond studies folklore art map use weather and wilderness survival. The English School District partially subsidizes the schools that attend the program. The school programs are partially supported by environmentally-themed summer camps for 10-17 year old youth and commercial facility rentals. Starting in 2020 there has been a start in providing leadership training to encourage summer camp children to progress into junior councilors. This year the Centre is partnering with Quadrangle to offer an environmentally themed inclusive summer camp for LGBTQ+ youth.
