The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank Inc. provides services to clients from: 1> Elliot Lake and surrounding area. 2> Residents of Serpent River. 3> Residents of the mens shelter Larry's Place located in Elliot Lake. 4> Residents of Maple Gate the women shelter located in Elliot Lake. 5> First Nation residents in the Serpent River reserve. The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank inc. provides food to the needy as an Emergency Food bank with needs provided as a 3 to 5 day supply of food. On average the dollar value of a food hamper is $ 120. for a single individual to $ 160.00 for a family hamper. On average The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank inc. provides food hampers to 400 to 500 households per month. The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank Inc. issues food vouchers valued at $ 75.00 for special needs individuals. On average 10 vouchers are issued monthly with total vouchers isued in year 2024 amounting to $ 9 000. The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank inc. also has a special Christmas Hamper program and hands out Christmas Hampers to the needy in Deember of each year. Hamper value is in the vicinity of $ 70.00 and over 400 hampers were given out to the needy in year 2024. The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank inc. in conjunction with Maple Gate ( women's shelter) and The Royal Canadian Legion understook a program to feed the needy during the winter months. A soup kitchen was established and operated from October 2023 to April 2024. A warm meal was provided to the needy three days a week Monday Wednesday and Fridays. This program was run with volunteers only and on average of 150 meals were provided to the needy. The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank Inc. assists with providing food for this service. The Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank inc. continues to have increase demand for our services and we anticipate relocating premises during the spring 2025
