About Edmonton Adaptive Sports Association

To educate and provide a positive experience for participants of all abilities through the sport of sledge hockey. Vision Statement: To encourage the physical well being and mental health of Participants. To provide education about the sport of sledge hockey to players coaches trainers managers referees and spectators. To promote positive shared experiences within the community. To fundraise and provide specialized equipment to enable people with a disability to be active within there community. To promote sledge hockey and increase participation. The Sledge Try It events are run by the Edmonton Adaptive Sports association (EASA) in order to provide individuals of all abilities with the opportunity to experience the sport of sledge hockey. The aim of the program includes aspects such as promoting physical activity building teamwork and promoting overall well being for participants. The participants have fun while learning the fundamentals of the sport (e.g. skating passing shooting) in a recreational environment. Members of EASA will be on hand to facilitate programming including coaches and/[layers. Our volunteers put in over 3000 hours to run our programs. We also offer TRY IT events to different organizations interested in giving sledge hockey a try. We provide sledges and sticks and have volunteers out on the ice for teaching the sport.
