Ecology North

Ecology North Offers environmental education and awareness in the following five areas: local food production climate change mitigation and adaptation water stewardship nature appreciation and waste reduction. Some of the public environmental events we organize include: Waste Reduction Week Earth Week Rivers to Oceans Day and natural history events such as the Christmas Bird count. We operate a school garden program. We hold regular water stewardship group meetings for youth host an annual youth water stewardship gathering and we provide environmental education sessions at schools and summer camps Ecology North ran a new program called Healthy living through healthy eating which involved at-risk youth learning to prepare meals in a range of settings including traditional foods prepared outside. Ecology North collaboratively hosted two public events-post evacuation on topics of mutual aid and climate and income resilience. Another project gave us the opportunity to increase professional development opportunities for staff.
