Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Luthern Church in Canada / Synode De L'Est De L'Eglise Evangelique Lutherienne Au Canada

The eastern synod provides pastoral care and assistance to congregations and pastors. This includes administering to pastors congregations and institutions leading worship in many congregations and synodical settings and conducting retreats and assemblies for clergy and lay persons for leadership development and spiritual renewal. The synod provides funding for two camps providing religious and recreational programs funding for the national church (evangelical lutheran church in canada) for its canadian and international ministries as well as funding to martin luther university college. The synod also supports chaplains in various institutions including healthcare correctional facilities and the armed forces. Ministries that have been initiated in recent yeras include 1) restoring right relationships with first nations peoples 2) working with congregations to re-purpose their buildings for missional purposes 3) supporting climate justice initiatives.
