Autumn festival and other ceremonies (durga puja lakshmi puja saraswati puja) and cultural activities associated with each ceremony complying with hindu rites rituals and customs in the ottawa region. These activities take place in community centers in the ottawa region and many people volunteer their time for these events and activities. Other annual events such as the picnic and annual dinner are also organized by volunteers on an annual basis to foster participation and promote multicultural activities. Deshantari also received some grant money from the government for activities related to seniors and newcomers to enhance social inclusion and foster mutigenerational relationships with younger deshantari members. Many of these activities fall under the new horizons for seniors program (nhsp).
