Cumberland County Genealogical Society

With the reduction of Covid restrictions we were able to reopen our office and continue business in person as well as via e-mail and other electronic means. We provided research assistance to a large number of students researchers and other members of the public from all over the country/world. We continued to acquire items to add to our archives and continued to produce our quarterly newsletter which contains many interesting articles on historical and genealogical events from the past. Through our website Facebook page and other electronic means we continued to promote the rich heritage of our county as well as provide education in the importance of preservation of our historical documents. We have once again been able to hold public meetings and bring in speakers. Still working on the production of a book regarding cemeteries in Cumberland County. This will provide a comprehensive record of headstone in these cemeteries and will be a much valued resource to the public and community. We are working on increasing our collection pertaining to African Nova Scotians and First Nations history.
