About Crohn's and Colitis Canada/Crohn Et Colite Canada
Crohn's and Colitis Canada is the only national volunteer-based charity focused on finding the cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis and improving the lives of children and adults affected by these devastating diseases. We are one of the top two health charity funders of Crohn's and colitis research in the world investing over $141 million in research since 1974. We are transforming the lives of people affected by Crohn's and colitis (the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease) by investing in four key mission priorities: research patient programs advocacy education and awareness. Our rigorous and unbiased research grant review process ensures that we invest in the best researchers and most promising studies in Canada. Initiated in 2008 the GEM (Genetic Environmental Microbial) project is an international research study attempting to determine possible causes for Crohn's disease. We offer a range of programs to improve lives and increase awareness for the nearly 300 000 Canadians living with Crohn's and colitis including summer camps a peer support program digital apps online and live educational events and a website that provides comprehensive information that helps patients manage their disease. We advocate for policy and legislative changes that will ease the burden of these chronic diseases and our priorities focus on access to treatments and care.
