Craft Council of British Columbia

All programs are volunteer run. CCBC Shop & Gallery Social Enterprise contributing to the charitable activities by providing a public venue to promote the work of BC contemporary craft. We collaborate on an initiative with the Ontario Craft Council – Studio Magazine which is distributed to members twice a year; workshops and demonstrations/presentations about craft issues for the general public students and professionals in craft community; Resources Centre – continued to collect relevant periodicals and magazines for an in-house and online resources library on craft practices/issues which are accessible to the public; 3 websites – Members website – Craftcouncilbc.ca; a public education website – Pondercraft.ca & archival website – BC Craft Archives. A Made by Hand program for non-profit and corporate giving opportunities. We host 7 exhibitions each year and 11 window installations. We run a mentorship program matching emerging artists with master craftspeople to support the deepening of their art practice. Our Art of Craft lecture series is offered bi-annually. We offer 4 awards – Micki Mackenzie Bursary (annually) Citizen of Craft (annually) Grace Cameron Rogers Award (biannual) and Hilde Gerson Awards (biannual). We have 3 permanent endowment funds that support the awards and operations of the organization. We continued our partnership with the Mary Fox Legacy program to offer ceramic apprenticeships and entered into a partnership with Terminal City Glass Co-op to offer glass making education to youth.
