Coxheath Volunteer Fire Department

Ongoing programs and services include volunteer firefighting in the coxheath community as well as providing backup firefighting services when required to other volunteer fire departments in the surrounding areas of cbrm. Cvfd continues to raise funds for additional training gear and equipment needed for its members to safely provide services. Fundraising efforts include taking part in a provincial firefighters online raffle that has enabled many volunteer departments to supplement their municipal funding. Cvfd receives annual funding from cbrm that covers most of the operational costs. However fundraising is the only way to cover other expenses such as costly firefighters protective gear and firefighting equipment training programs etc. Cvfd provides educational programs for schools and members are required to have certain mandatory training in firefighting and safety just to be able to enter a burning building or attend to a burning vehicle. Cvfd is involved with additional training for water rescue and safety as well as accessing difficult locations for rescue. The use of new technology requires ongoing training to support the use of life and time saving tech programs.
