Cowichan Women Against Violence Society

Cwav society provides client-centered safety shelter counselling and advocacy in support of individual family and community well-being. Ongoing programs include somenos transition house women's night shelter homelessness prevention program stopping the violence women's counselling community based victim services police based victim services poverty law advocate men choose respect horizon's pre-employment program and several youth programs such as children who witness abuse counselling and the teen healthy relationships program. Cwav staff and volunteers bring a women's anti-violence expertise to many community social planning groups. The child and youth advocacy centre-this centre is open and providing a more trauma-informed culturally appropriate interviewing process and care for children experiencing sexual abuse in a safe and warm environment.
