About Cortes Island Community Foundation
The community foundation was able to continue to partner on numerous programs to continue to support innovative high school education with the cortes island academy support education for the island community organizations and social profits extend support for community communications arts/culture and social programming ecological and forest stewardship senior and death/dying care programs and literacy programming for adults youth and famillies. The community foundation worked with the government programs of the ice-t trust ddf and redip in order to begin to create the village commons at the heart of manson's village as a community space in services of charitable needs on cortes including a pavilion shared vending/storage/office spaces and an indigenous carved pole working with cceda to provide small business mentorship and with cortes radio and cia to extend educational mentorship and outreach opportunities to the community at large. The cortes island community foundation facilitates strategic gifting & and support of coates island needs and priority projects including educational social health environmental and innovative community programs of a charitable nature for the benefit of the community. The community foundation was able to support the cortes island community through programs and granting. The cicf was proud to participate with the community foundations of canada and the government of canada in supporting thee recovery fund through which we provided grants to five island organizations. The cicf participated in the vancouver foundation island network's neighbourhood small grants program with the microgrants for neighbours project. We used our community granting process to support the strathcona regional district area b in adjudicating decisions for their grants-in-aid program and supported the giving well direct gifting project for a provate philanthropist.
