Commissary Accessability Marina Park Society

The charity provided subsidized marina berths to 30 local accessibility members. It also created a park environment for the community by clearing the undergrowth around the area and installing marina fingers and railings for safe boating. The charity raised money to pay the Transport Canada lease for the water lot and property's use as a park/marina. The charity raised enough money to pay liability insurance for activities on the property and established a picnic table area for public seating along the shore. The charity received donations of Porta potyy facilities for the marina/park users. The charity executive wrote six grant applications to acquire funds to construct washrooms and enhance the park environment. ACOA grant application submitted for $250 000 to build utilities washrooms kitchen and admin space Sport and Heritage NS grant application was submitted for $150 000 to build washrooms and set up utilities. Town of Shelburne grant application submitted for $1500 to assist in setting up utilities Municipality of Shelburne grant application submitted for $2500 to assist in utility set up To date we have been approved for the ACOA grant but the money is on hold pending clarification of environmental assessment issues. We have received the federal 'new horizon ' grant of $24 873 to build an accessibility deck and pathways and install picnic tables and park bench. . Plans to expand the marina's capacity to accommodate another twenty boats and build a community center to provide basic amenities for public park/marina use. Plans are to hold public fundraiser events at the site throughout the summer. Intend to create public storage space for seniors to store paddle craft at the site near water to eliminate moving and lifting heavy crafts to the after issues. Build a dedicated accessibility marina dock for paddle craft launching and recovery.
