About Cochrane and Area Hospice Society
Walking Through Grief and Loss Support Walk – This is an opportunity with others in our community who are experiencing grief. We have and continue to experience many losses. Our walks offer a time for peer support. They are every Tuesday at Spray Lake Sawmill Family Sports Centre Main Entrance. These walks are held in Cochrane and in Bragg Creek. Comfort Kit - In an effort to assist families experiencing an end of life journey with a goal keeping those with illnesses in their homes as long as possible we are pleased to announce our new Cochrane and Area Hospice Society: In an effort to assist families experiencing an end of life journey with a goal keeping those with illnesses in their homes as long as possible we are pleased to announce our new Cochrane and Area Hospice Society Comfort Kits. The kits are intended to add a combination of information resources and comfort items such as journals and comfort blankets/quilts (created and donated through many caring volunteer individuals). The kits also come with a request form of services that families can ask for that range from assistance in shoveling walks and driveways and picking up groceries to assistance from palliative trained volunteers who can provide friendly visitation and respite visits. The volunteers support has been coordinated with Cochrane Helping Hands who have become a valued partner organization to the Cochrane and Area Hospice Society. Kits are distributed on an as needed basis through Cochrane Home Care who are acting as the distribution network in support of the Cochrane and Area Hospice Society. Partnerships - The Cochrane and Area Hospice Society endeavors to work with a number of partners in support of our vision and mission as an organization. The partnerships and collaboration with other Hospice Groups and Alberta Health Services (AHS) and local volunteers and organizations ensure that the community have available the resources needed to provide quality support.
