The Cobourg Museum Foundation continues to operate the Cobourg & Area Museum (previously called the Sifton-Cook Heritage Centre) which is normally open to the public from Mid-May to Mid-October 'bringing our story back to life' through story panels videos lecture artifacts and speakers. An operating outdoor model train illustrates the story of our early railroads bringing lumber and iron ore for shipment through Cobourg Harbour. There is a 'permanent' Cobourg History Exhibit and additional exhibits which normally change annually. CMF volunteers create and service the exhibits each year act as guides for visitors provide administrative support engage with stakeholders and much more. In 2024 there were 25 active volunteers who donated more than 3000 hours and we were able to hire two student who performed similar duties.
