THE COALITION BUILDS AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF MUSIC EDUCATION. WE CELEBRATE THE POWER OF MUSIC FOR YOUNG CANADIANS AND IN OUR CANADIAN CULTURE. THE COALITION SUPPORTS TEACHERS BY PROVIDING RESOURCES AND TOOLS AND CURRICULUM GUIDELINES. ON THE FIRST MONDAY OF MAY EACH YEAR THE COALITION COORDINATES A SIMULTANEOUS PERFORMANCE OF MUSIC-MAKERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY CALLED MUSIC MONDAY. WISE VOICES FOR MUSIC IS A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM TO SUPPORT THE LOCAL ACTIVITIES OF MUSIC PROGRAMS IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE COUNTRY. YOUTH4MUSIC IS A PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES A PLATFORM FOR THE VOICE OF YOUTH AND LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR MUSIC IN SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES. MUSIC MONDAY LIVE at METALWORKS STUDIOS For the first time since 2019 we held our own Music Monday concert. Featuring a number of student performances the event was hosted by Gil Moore of Triumph with special guest Mike Levine of Triumph. More than 70 student musicians performed including a string ensemble rock band and choral group. Guests included sponsors school trustees music education organizations and music industry contacts ANCESTORS VOICES: MUSIC AND LEARNING FOR NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION This new program was created to introduce an Indigenous songwriter and their song to classrooms across the country as part of a curriculum-based music program to acknowledge National Day of Truth & Reconciliation and to honour the children who didn’t return home the survivors and all others whose lives have been impacted by residential schools. Featuring the song S.E.E.D.S. by Julian Taylor Resources provided include Learning Guide created by Indigneous music education consultant Michelle Naarden Artist Guide Video Series Music Video Funded in part by the Socan Foundation Total participants: 83 000
