The ongoing purpose of this Charity is to sponsor refugees to come to Canada through the Private Sponsorship of Refugees program. We identity refugees who have Refuge Determination Status issued by the UNHCR. We then work with family members in Canada who provide the funds required by IRCC for the sponsorship. We prepare and submit the applications as required to the IRCC (Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada) for their approval. Once approved they will then come to Canada. This process may take up to 3 years especially because of Covid and the refugees coming from the Ukraine and Afghanistan. We assist the family members already in Canada to help with the settlement needs. This assistance is for a period of one year. As well our team of volunteers help with these tasks. They include finding suitable accommodation food clothing household needs schooling for adults (English) enrolling children in school connecting them with doctors and dentist making sure they have their SIN number and OHIP card. If needed we help with mental health issues and any other needs they have to ensure they settle well into Canadian life. The funds given by the families here are placed into a trust account with Cathy Foreht and Lenny Foreht. These funds are for that family only and remain in the bank account until the refugee family arrives. These funds are NON TAX RECEIPTED. This past year we had three families very successfully complete their first year in Canada. There are no new programs. The majority of our time this coming year is waiting until more families already sponsored arrive and are settled. Then we will resume sponsoring new families..
