Christ Community Church of the Christian Reformed Church of Nanaimo B.C.

Our members hold a weekly worship service on Sunday mornings. A children's program (Kids for Christ) is offered for ages Pre-school to Grade 6. On Sunday afternoons a large (about 100) Filipino group (Jesus is Lord Church) holds a worship service and social time in our church. On Mondays our member-volunteers operate a distribution service on our premises for the Nanaimo Loaves and Fishes Food Bank. Two Alcoholics Anonymous groups meet on our premises in the evenings. A community daycare operates on some weekdays in our lower level. A few social/interest groups (such as a ladies’ painting group) meet in our building. Our sanctuary is used by a number of local groups for choir practices music recitals and concerts. Volunteers from our membership support the Christian Club at Vancouver Island University by providing food at their monthly meeting and loaves of bread for students to make sandwiches during the week. Two of our members conduct a Sunday afternoon hymn sing and devotional service at a local seniors’ residence. Through financial donations our members support local ministries (e.g. Salvation Army) foreign missions (e.g. YWAM: Youth With a Mission) and world relief (e.g. Canadian Foodgrains Bank). Via funds forwarded to the Christian Reformed Church headquarters (itself a registered charity) in Burlington ON our members indirectly support a variety of other global missions and relief. On the first Sunday of each month we hold a joint worship service with local members of 'e3 Ministry Canada' who do not yet have a facility in which to worship. On Good Friday we host a combined service with 2 other congregations. On the first Friday of each month we hosted 'The Gathering' an evening of worship and celebration for youth of Nanaimo.
