The chilliwack museum & historical society remains dedicated to connecting our community with chilliwack's rich history through a diverse range of exhibitions archival services programs and events. We are committed to conserving and presenting the region's historical material culture offering educational programs local history kits accessible hours and opportunities for community engagement. These efforts from the heart of our charitable mission ensuring a meaningful and inclusive connection to our shared heritage. In 2024 the chilliwack museum & historical society continued to expand its reach through a series of impactful exhibitions and community programs. Featured exhibitions included refugee canada & 70 years of innovation; in partnership with the chilliwack society for community living highlighting their pivotal role in supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. Woven together: chilliwack spinners & weavers offered a powerful exploration of textile traditions showcasing both sto: lo and settler weaving practices. Bats: out of the darkness brought attention to environmental biodiversity emphasizing the ecosystem of community and the balance of nature. The year culminated in the community art show a celebration of local creativity. The museum also participated in various community events including the fraser valley wedding show chilliwack & mural festival and chilliwack pride festival. We were proud to work in collaboration with local businesses and community groups for a number of events. This continued focus on dynamic exhibitions and community engagement helped drive a notable increase in museum admissions throughout the year. In addition to our exhibitions and programs the chilliwack museum & archives remains a vital public resource offering access to the community's rich history through its extensive archives.
