About Children's Aid Foundation of Canada
Programs support 3 priority popuations: families at risk children in care and youth in transition. Families at risk receive supports to strength the family unit and address any safety concerns so that fewer children and youth enter into or grow up in care. Children in care receive primary and secondary education supports enrichment programs that create access to sports arts culture and recreation and health and wellbeing supports so that more children and youth from care graduate high school. Youth in transition supports may include access to post-secondary education employment programs and supports that address barriers such as mental health and housing so that young people transitioning out of care have access to meaningful education and empolyment opportunities. A new program to the foundation in 2023-24 was the sun life bright futures kids wellness program. This funding helps children and youth involved with child welfare learn mindfulness skills in support of helath coping strategies enhanced emotional regulation improved stress management and overall improved mental health outcomes.
