About Chester Brass Band Society
The Band performs 10 to 14 concerts yearly at various locations in Nova Scotia and provides weekly rehearsals for the education and enrichment of its members. Some of the concerts are free to the community. Others charge a fee to help pay for ongoing expenses of the band. From time to time the band may perform a benefit concert for a local organization such as Bonny Lea Farm Shoreham Village Seniors Home or the Legion. The band performs relevant material at the annual Remembrance Day and Battle of the Atlantic ceremonies in Chester. In 2023 the band celebrated its 150th continuous year in operation. The band also offers at a vary low rate access to its building to various community exercise yoga and dance groups. Starting in 2024 the band participated in Nova Scotia Music Appreciation Day by providing workshops to the local high school band members and invited them to play with the band at one of its rehearsals. We also performed a joint concert with all of the school bands in the area for their parents and the public.
