Chess Institute of Canada

Chess Institute of Canada ('CIC') is a registered Canadian charity that advances education through the delivery of integrated chess and life skills instruction programs to children and other learners. Our core programs consist of curriculum classes and extracurricular clubs for schools families and other groups of students. We also operate PA Day and other tournaments seasonal campus and special events. Our programs are available in both online and in-person formats. In response to the Covid-19 global pandemic at Chess Institute of Canada we converted our in-person chess and life skills instruction programs to on-line equivalents. This was necessary due to the physical closing of primary/elementary schools in March 2020 and the educational system's shift to remote learning. As part of this conversion we expanded our offerings on a broader basis across Canada. We are also developing a new Chess to Life? teaching curriculum and database solution to support both our online and in-person programs. We began offering chess-based programs to seniors and 'grandparent-and-grandchild' programs.
