About Chatterbox Theatre Society
Chatterbox Theatre Society continued the Summer Story Writing Project offered to teens in Calgary through the virtual platform. The project involved fostering the collaboration of students to create two children’s stories based on the month’s theme and gain vital experience and knowledge in the editing process working as a team giving and receiving constructive feedback and working with deadlines. Prior writing experience isn’t required just an interest in children’s story-writing and a good attitude! Each month over the summer the stories written by volunteer teens/youth are collected and published on ChatterBox’s website and could even be considered for future productions in the children’s theatre. Stories produced by young participants through our Summer Story Writing Projects can be accessed here: https://www.chatterboxtheatresociety.com/summer-story-project-2 ChatterBox Theatre Society also offered a series of public story writing workshops dedicated to children between 5 and 12 years of age. During these one hour long sessions groups of children from the community meet with ChatterBox Theatre team of instructors to write a story. The children are invited to choose a problem or difficult situation they are facing and create the characters background and storyline to describe that problem. They also create several possible solutions and this way choose the ending of the story. Our instructors are leading the children throughout this creative process and ensure the safety of all participating in the session as well as the technical support. We have numerous volunteers working with ChatterBox Theatre Society during the year in many areas such as project execution virtual platforms and website development marketing and social media communication fundraising finance and human resources. Our goal of providing high-quality public theatre performances to children and training programs on topics related to the theatre to young performers as well as
