Harvest projects in a community-based urban relief organization serving bc's north shore community since 1993. The focus is to 'extend a hand up' to individuals and families experiencing difficult life curcumstances- helping to restore them to self-sufficiency in the community. Traumatic curcumstances that threaten to improverish might include job loss divorce illness injury health challenges housing insecurity or death of a family member. Services include the client care program which consist of one-to-one coaching & mentoring referrals to specialized counseling and other service agencies the grocery and nutrition support program which relieves households facing food insecurity by providing no-charge groceries and personal-care items through an on-site 'shopping' experience offering healthy secure and culturally optimal food. The emergency food program operates in partnership with two churches in the community to provide a secure pre-packed supply of groceries to residents who drop in to receive this aid on a one-time or repeat basis. The clothing support program collects used clothing items to make available to clients at no-charge. Through the organizations rent bank those who qualify are offered short term no-interest loans. Services focuses on those who are at risk of eviction or essential utility disconnection due to a temporary shortage of funds.the rent bank can provide funds for a security deposit if it has become necessary to move to different housing. The organization is a provider of volunteering opportunities.during the fiscal period volunteers provided 11 743 hours of support.
