Centre for Northern Conservation

The centre for northern conservation: 1. Work to support and encourage greater recognition of the work of indigenous governments and communities in protecting the environment through for example the creation of indigenous protected and conserved areas ('ipcas') and indigenous stewardship initiatives such as guardians programs. 2. Facilitates working groups events and public discussions on indigenous-led conservaton and its role in environmental protection cultural revitalization and sustainable economic development 3. Supports the creation and distribution of videos exhibits and educational materials to raise public awareness of the multiple benefits of these efforts 4. Supports science-based research and policy analyses into key issues such as wildfire response and the role of innovative conservation financing in advancing indigenous-led conservation.
