About Centre for Newcomers Society of Calgary

Centre for Newcomers is offering the following services to new immigrants to Canada during the fiscal year: 1) Employment and training services such as career planning job search assistance and skills training. 2) English language training. 3) Settlement and integration services for adults youth and children. 4) Community-Based Care for Newcomer Children program - supplements the existing provincial childcare subsidy enabling clients to access private or not-for-profit childcare in the community at no cost for the duration of their enrollment in LINC programming. Support is provided to the LINC clients in identifying and accessing suitable and available childcare and navigating the provincial subsidy application process. 5) EthniCity Catering – is a social enterprise employing immigrant men and women in a commercial kitchen employment preparation program to break the cycle of 'no Canadian work experience no Canadian work opportunities'. 6) Real ME Gang intervention Program works with newcomer youth currently involved in gang-related activities or at risk of becoming involved in those activities and helps youth participants to reach their highest future potential regardless of their past. 7) The LGBTQ+ Newcomers Program - the settlement program is designed to access educate and support LGBTQ+ newcomers to Canada regarding their settlement needs; English language training; career or employment training and planning; federal provincial municipal services; and/or integration into the local community. 8) The Vulnerable Populations program offers Case Management of clients with a greater intensity of needs than standard settlement services. 9) WrapCap program - developing sector capacity in the use of the wraparound service delivery model which aims to support the standardization and coordination of newcomer youth settlement services. 10) Become a Better You - reduces the risk of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) by focusing on the clients and their actions that
