Cfic advances education by training members of the public in critical thinking media literacy and the scientific method by means of: 1. Hosting lectures and seminars featuring distinguished academics and other recognized subject matter experts; 2. Hosting facilitated discussion groups; 3. Providing access to scientific journals books and materials; and 4. Publishing and circulating free materials on these subjects. Cfic supports refugees and refugee claimants by: 1. Responding to requests from international partners to support refugees fleeing persecution for exercising their freedom of religion who have been recognized by the united nations high commission on refugees and assisting such refugees with living expenses resettlement costs and medical fees; 2. Providing public education about canada's national refugee support programs; 3. Providing information and volunteer support to refugees and refugee claimants in canada who are at risk of persecution for exercising their freedom of religion if they are returned to their country of origin by directing them to resettlement agencies assisting them with completing forms and providing emotional support during refugee proceedings.
