Le Nichoir’s mission is to conserve wild birds as part of our natural heritage. Situated at the entrance to the Clarke Sydenham Nature Reserve in Hudson Quebec the Centre delivers wildlife rehabilitation and public environmental education programs specializing in songbirds and aquatic birds. Each year its team of staff and volunteers provides professional and compassionate care to thousands of injured and/or orphaned wild birds representing over 100 species from across Quebec. Bilingual public education initiatives are delivered online and on site. They include social media posts interactive programs for children seminars family activities and informational kiosks at community events. In 2024 Le Nichoir launched Oil Spill Avian Response System (OARS) a network of 40 professionals across Quebec trained in safely treating oiled birds. Le Nichoir also provides the public with answers to specific wild-bird-related questions by responding to more than 10 000 phone and email inquiries each year. In 2024 114 volunteers gave 6990 hours to support Le Nichoir’s wild bird conservation programs.
