Central Okanagan Community Foodbank Society

Our purpose is to provide essential nourishment over 11 000 individuals in the central okanagan facing financial and food insecurity fostering dignity and hope within the community. Through compassion education and advocacy we strive to create a future where everyone has equitable access to nutritious food. The central okanagan food bank offers a range of programs to nourish uplift and empower our community. At the heart of our efforts the nutrition improvement program (nip) aims to provide all clients with access to nutritious food and resources that promote healthy eating habits. With specialized foods for each age and stage of life the nip contributes to more positive outlooks and helps individuals stay balanced health and well-being. This program meets diverse nutritional needs through initiatives offered during daily client hamper distribution. Through direct distribution and thoughtful extended programs our commitment is to nourish community and feed hope ensuring that every member of our community has access to the resources that need to thrive. New programs: more then food: this referral-based program connects clients with essential resources from language and job skills to nutrition housing and mental health support. We assess each individual's needs to create a personalized pathway fostering self-sufficiency and resilience. Through partnerships with our local community-based organizations we aim to support clients in meaningful and sustainable ways. Food for thought: over 1 500 students receive daily meals and 350+ children take home weekend backpacks to ensure steady nutrition that supports health and learning. Together these programs reflect our commitment to nourish community and feel hope ensuring that every member of our community has access to the resources that need to thrive.
