Ceed Centre Society

We operate a heritage building (old japanese kindergarten) as a neighbourhood house with drop-in programs training programs and public ict access: seniors activity group eh! (sage) wednesday community discussions ceed centre art group sewing ceedlings community computer program canadagrowsmart pesticide alternatives education hotline + website. We now operate 4 community gardens. Ceed pod is our podcasting program about maple ridge and pitt meadows. We operate a seasonal farm market that includes a free performance stage and a donation based hot dog stand and café. The school pantry project provides fresh vegetables from local farms to schools in the district. Grants to non-qualifying donees were made on behalf of a recovery outreach program. A grant of $5 000 was dispensed to a youth emergency shelter. Volunteers number from 25 key volunteers to 50 at events putting in more than 3100 hours. We launched the remembering the lost legacy of the japanese canadian farming community of maple ridge which will create a permanent interpretative exhibit and an annual nikkei cultural festival.
