Carpenter Hospice

The hospice provides care for individuals who wish to spend their last days in a home-like environment. As part of our strategic plan carpenter hospice identified community engagement and programs and service expansion as key strategic directions. Intending to support these key strategic directions carpenter hospice has been working towards developing services and programs to enhance palliative care in the burlington community. Current research speaks to the increased demand for services caused by the aging population. Research also states that when polled 70% - 80% of canadians wish to die at home but the reality is that 67% die in hospital or long-term care. With this disconnect carpenter hospice recognizes the resource gap often preventing people from staying at home. The hospice is working with community agencies and the formal medical system to develop programs and services to address these gaps. To summarize the mandate of the outreach program is to support better those living with a life-limiting disease in the setting of their choice (i.e. Home hospice etc.)
