Caregivers Nova Scotia Association

Ongoing: caregivers nova scotia provides free programs services information and advocacy for family and friend caregivers. This includes in-person and virtual support groups held in every region of the province and one-to-one assistance by phone and electronically. We are dedicated to providing recognition and practical assistance to friends and family giving care. We participate in government task forces and working groups to influence public policy for the benefit of caregivers. An important part of supporting in 2023-24 we continued work on a comprehensive analysis of the needs and priorities of unpaid caregivers involving focus groups and interviews with caregivers and stakeholders. This resulted in a report presented to the department of seniors and long-term care with recommendations for action. Following from this report caregivers ns has been developing its own plans with caregiver recognition and outreach to under-served communities as key priorities.
