Care Canada

Care canada is a member of care international and international development and humanitarian organization which reaches communities in over 100 countries working to defend dignity and fight poverty by empowering women and girls. The needs and agency of women and girls are at the center of everything we do. Care's work helps unlock women's leadership for a gender- just future by driving key investments in women's safety health and dignified livelihoods. To achieve this we facilitate the implementation of programs in dozens of countries annually in a variety of sectors. Our approaches to achieve our mission include a focus on localization (including partnering with local women-led local organizations) and inclusive market-based approaches amongst others. We respond to both the long-term needs of women girls boys and men as well as to short term urgent life-saving needs through emergency responses all around the world. Care mobilizes canadians to connect with our mandate through fundraising and public engagement campaigns that contribute to our global impact. Care also works to influence government policies and programs at all levels to ensure that women and girls are at the center. In fiscal year 2024 care canada and its partners worked in 32 countries implementing 58 poverty-fighting development and humanitarian aid projects and initiatives. Through this work it directly reached over 1.6 million participants. In fy24 care canada began several new projects in conjunction with our affiliated organizations overseass in the following countries: afghanistan cambodia cuba democratic republic of congo ethiopia honduras indonesia libya pakistan peru sudan syria turkiye vietnam west bank/gaza yemen and zambia. Care canada has also provided new humanitarian assistance in the following contexts: afghanistan democratic republic of congo ethiopia libya pakistan sudan syria turkiye west bank and gaza and yemen.
