About Canadian Society of Decorative Arts

The csda provides two primary services and activities: communication with csda members about decorative arts and material culture in canada via ornamentum magazine quarterly electronic newsletters social media mailed and electronic invitations to events of interest tours exhibitions features and symposia; and virtual and in-person programming through the csda sunday series young professionals and creatives ornamentum lectures and our annual symposium. Csda established an editorial advisory committee to provide support and guidance to the editor of ornamentum that includes articles announcements of events and exhibitions book reviews and artistic profiles. Prior issues of the magazine are available on a dedicated website. Our quarterly newsletter is greatly appreciated by members and non-members alike. The csda offers eight to ten in-person and virtual events annually enabling people from across the country to participate in topics that explore glassware ceramics and porcelains textiles fashion interior design recreational spaces architectural features and more. The annual symposium is held in a different part of the country annually giving peopl the opportunity to delve into the local decorative arts and design scene both contemporary and historical. All csda activities are managed or supervised by its board including the roles of chair president vice-president treasurer and secretary. An honorary national council comprised of prominent we are consolidating our services and expanding the fund development plan whcih will include a more focused and ambitious auction planned for the spring 2025.
