Canadian Committee on Labour History (cclh)

Publishing - Journal Publication of the journal Labour/Le Travail since 1976 to raise awareness of the labour and working-class history of Canada. The journal appears twice a year and averages about 300 pages per issue. It is published for CCLH by Athabasca University Press. We also have a partnership with the Canadian Association for Work and Labour Studies. In the 2022-2023 fiscal year we published two issues of the journal in the fall of 2022 and spring of 2023. Publishing - CCLH Books CCLH has published books in the field of Canadian labour and working-class history since the early 1980s and has some 26 titles currently in print. In recent years we have published many of them as joint publications with Athabasca University Press. In the 2022-2023 fiscal year we published one new title. Conferences and Workshops We generally hold our annual general meeting at the meeting of the Canadian Historical Association at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences which meet in late May / early June at a Canadian university. In the 2022-2023 fiscal year because of Covid-19 this meeting was held virtually. In addition to the annual general meeting we convene academic panels at the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences presenting research papers relating to topics in labour and working-class history. We also convene an Annual Labour History workshop in conjunction with the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences disseminating knowledge relating to labour and working-class history beyond academia to the general public and people affiliated with the labour movement. Finally we also hold occasional special conferences and workshops. We held a special conference at Mount Royal University in Calgary in October 2022.
