About Canadian Children's Asthma Society

1. Elementary School Asthma Education Program The Canadian Children’s Asthma Society has developed an Elementary School Asthma Education Program that helps educate children in the age range of 7 to 9 years old on Asthma and how to support fellow classmates who may have Asthma. The program involves a one hour presentation to students at participating elementary schools. The program includes age appropriate level videos explaining: what is Asthma its effects on children who have been diagnosed with Asthma and what to do in an emergency situation when a fellow classmate is having an Asthma attack. Each child will receive a detailed information brochure with Asthma information and contact information for the Society if they would like to access further programs or assistance. 2. Community Asthma Education Clinics The Clinics help educate the general public on the effects of Asthma and how to help and support individuals with Asthma. The Clinics mainly focus on supporting children with Asthma. The clinics will also educate about the different medications and puffers and the various medical equipment used to help children with Asthma. The community sessions are 2 hours long and coordinated for groups of adults and children of no more than 10 people. This program is offered free of charge to the general public and are held at a general central known public location that has full accessibility (I.e. public libraries community centres or public school). 3. National Asthma Education & Awareness Program The National Asthma Education & Awareness Program helps educate the general public on Asthma and how to treat it and supports the children who have been diagnosed with Asthma. The Canadian Children`s Asthma Society achieves this through the Society’s website Facebook page and various printed brochures online videos and other media sources. None at this time
