About Canadian Association for Neurosciences Foundation

Support participation of trainees in the Canadian Association for Neuroscience Meeting. The Canadian Association for Neuroscience Foundation supports the participation of trainees in this annual conference by providing travel awards to the meeting. These awards partially offset the travel costs for trainees coming from different regions of Canada. These awards are essential; in their absence many of these neuroscientists-in-training who are the future of neuroscience in Canada would simply not have the opportunity to share their research learn from others network or benefit from mentorship. We allocate $10 000/year to fund these trainee travel awards. Travel award winners are identified by the Canadian Association of Neuroscience conference organizers. Trainee members of the Canadian Association for Neuroscience are eligible (students and post-doctoral fellows) and apply while registering for the meeting. Only trainees making a scientific presentation at the meeting are eligible. Award amounts range from $300-900/recipient depending on distance of travel to the CAN meeting. The amount is reviewed yearly based on travel costs (economy airfare/train/bus rates) and the Association budget. In 2024 13 trainees were supported through this program. These specific winners were selected through a random selection process amongst eligible applicants. This activity directly supports the Foundation’s main objective which is to promote neuroscience research in Canada.
