Campbell River and District Public Art Gallery

As the sole public non-profit gallery in the region we serve broad and diverse communities from all over the North Island and Discovery Islands. Prior to Covid we saw over 14 000 visitors come into our Gallery to learn about contemporary art take a workshop or class hear an artist talk or attend our popular Super Saturdays a free drop-in art program for children and youth. Programming included artist talks youth engagement workshops Artist Trading Cards book talks critical discussions and free art-making workshops. Programs ran both virtually in person and a combination of both. We also continued our outreach efforts to schools many of whom typically attend Gallery activities throughout the year. Our virtual programs and exclusive EduKit on Contemporary Indigenous Art have made it easy and accessible for teachers to provide contemporary art education in the classroom. In 2024 the CRAG was grateful to receive over 100 hours of support from volunteers who assisted with program registration visitor engagement fundraising and facility maintenance. They accompanied full-time and part-time permanent staff as well as our students in completing all programming deliverables.
