Calgary Interfaith Council

1. Interfaith Bible Study. Two Rabbi's and Two Christian Leaders study the old testament with those that sign in for the Zoom Call once a week. We held two sessions. One in fall and one in the winter. 2. Scriptural Reasoning A group of Muslim Christian Bhuddist Bahai individuals met once a month through fall and winter to discuss a theme chosen by the participants and invited one of the members to introduce the topic using Sacred Text from their faith tradition and then everyone had a chance to make comments about the theme or to ask questions. 3. Prayer Vigils were held periodically in response to current events. (Israel/Hamas War Muslim family shooting Indigenous Graves etc) 4. United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week Held every year on the first week of February. Opening and Closing Ceremonies that included dialogue between participants. Forums for discussion as well as mike exchanges where communities invited someone from another faith tradition to speak to their congregation were held. 5. Calgary Interfaith Breakfast Partnered with Mayor's office in bringing together in prayer speaker and dialogue celebrating our diversity and values of faith in Calgary Community. A number of our stakeholders and faith communities put on Interfaith literacy relationship building and educational events that we advertised and supported through our biweekly email to a large cross section of members. Women in faith : Programming that celebrates Women in our faith community Israel/Hamas War: We held listening circles and a prayer vigil. Our Muslim and Jewish board members also put together a joint statement of peace. As a board we are developing a Faiths in Conflict action strategy so that we might be in a better position to respond quickly to similar crisis.
