About Calgary Choral Society
The Calgary Choral Society (CCS - commercially branded as Revv52) is a Calgary-based performance ensemble of over 50 amateur singers from all walks of life that entertains inspires and energizes its audiences with original productions of the most important and beloved songs in pop music. CCS normally presents three productions each year – a gala for a smaller audience in November at the National Music Centre followed by two large mainstage productions at the Bella Concert Hall in January and May. Through its small group ReMix: Powered by Revv52 CCS also performs at private functions for companies and charities. In the past fiscal year CCS presented its Gala 'One Hit Wonders' in November to a sold-out audience. This show featured Revv52 members in smaller groups with a wide-ranging list of memorable hits that were not the start of something bigger for the original artists. In January CCS presented 'EPIC 80s' - cast and audience alike dressed for the occasion and screens showed classic videos and commercials from the decade. May’s production of 'On Broadway' included numbers with cast from Storybook Theatre who had just completed Something Rotten. The goal of CCS’s programs includes educating its members in choral singing and productions so that we can perform concerts and collaborate with others to promote choral singing to the Canadian arts community. This year Calgary Choral Society’s season will include 'Reimagine' for the November Gala 'Guitar Hero' for the January production and 'Fan Favourites' for the May production. Through the small group ReMix: Powered by Revv52 CCS will continue to participate in private concerts and charity events.
