The work of the international and social justice area is under the unbrella 'teachers action for learning' and subcategorized in three core areas of: 1) teachers' action for teaching (tat) focusing on professional development of educators 2) teachers' action for gender equality (tage) fostering the empowerment of girls and women and 3) teachers' action for teaching organizations (tato) helping to develop the organizational capacities of teacher unions and their leaders. Roject overseas which has canadians teachers working with our partner countries in africa and the caribbean is focused on teacher professional development a tat program the norm goble awards are to engage and celebrate teachers and is awarded (3 x $1 500) to partners to assist them with world teachers' day activities to highlight the profession. It is a tato program. The simameni project (funded primarily by the government of canada) is a project which aims to improve access to education for secondary girls in uganda. It falls under tage programming
