Burnaby Neighbourhood House Society

We provide information & referral and general support to people in our community. We provide low cost activity programs that are run by volunteers. 1 060 volunteers donated 20 033 hours. We provide free family place drop-in at 3 sites (also offered virtually during health pandemic) parenting resources and early literacy. We operate 2 community kitchen programs for low income families. We operate 9 licensed school age childcare centers. We host monthly low cost community dinners. We offer a community-building neighbourhood Small Grants program. We provide 2 levels of leadership training for youth. We provide free after school programs for low income school aged children. We provide ESL conversation classes and multilingual peer support for new immigrants. We provide outreach programs to isolated children families and seniors. We provide a cross-cultural support group for vulnerable seniors. We operate 3 licensed pre-school programs. We provide a community adult literacy program. We operate a second Neighbourhood House in North Burnaby that facilitates our program delivery in the North Burnaby neighbourhoods. We operate food hubs that support low income residents with food security needs. We provide social connection support and food programs for vulnerable seniors who are experiencing isolation and facing multiple barriers. We run Food Services program to support the activities at the Neighbourhood house. We run a Welcoming Seniors Space program to creating welcoming spaces and making referrals to access services for seniors with barriers to participation. We provide Digital Literacy drop-in programs and individualized learning support to vulnerable populations to help with participation in the digital world. We also distribute free digital devices. We provide a Youth Employment program to support youth 15 to 30 yrs with their attachment to employment and education through a employment training program that provides group based workshops and paid work experience.
