Burnaby Hospice Society

Burnaby hospice society is dedicated to providing compassionate care to individuals and families during the end-of-life journey. We achieve this through the following programs and services. Hospice palliative care: our staff and trained volunteers provide and facilitate compassionate end-of-life support while honouring choices and supporting families and friends. Bereavement support: our trained and dedicated staff and volunteers bring understanding listening skills and support to help people find comfort during grief. We provide individual counselling facilitate grief support groups offer one-on-one bereavement support and host a weekly walking support group. Community education: our extensive lending library of books pamphlets and videos cover a wide selection of subjects associated with death dying illness and bereavement. We also host public education events throughout the year. Our team has focused on expanding programs to provide clients with opportunities to find groups and activities that align with their needs and personal interests. For palliative clients our team initiated a pilot project to bring regular compassionate support for long term care residents which is a sector that is currently underserved. For grief clients two multi-week support groups were revamped to provide counsellor led support material and we have added five new single session workshops. Workshops include: tree of live memory box healing through art writing and a spanish workshop.
