1. Sunday dhamma school. The sunday dhamma school at bvs offers weekly educational sessioins for children and teenagers teaching core buddhist principles ethical living and meditation basics through interactive classes and cultural actitives.. In 2024 the program reopened on september 8th with regular sunday sessions including an end-of-year ceremony on december 15th to recognize student achievements in dhamma studies. 2. Dhamma discussion and meditation programs. Bvs's dhamma discussion and meditation programs provide adults and families with regular opportunities for guided meditation sessions and interactive talks on buddhist teachings led by resident monks to promote mental well-being and ethical practice. Throughout 2024 these included weekly sunday meditations wednesdays evening dhamma sermons and special discussions intergrated into events like vesak day celebrations. 3. 'ata sli' program for the full moon poya days. The 'ata sil' program at bvs enables participants to observe the eight precepts on full moon poya days through structured sessions of meditation dhamma talks and communal dana. Fostering spiritual purification and mindfullness. In 2024 these monthly observances were supported by an da'na calendar encouraging devotees to provide meals for observers during key poya events like vesak in may. As of september 18 2025 the buddhist vihara society (bvs) in surrey bc continues its longstanding ongoing programs while incorporating special events tied to the buddhist calendar fostering spiritual growth education and community engagement for the remainder of 2025 and into the future.
