The purpose of the foundation is to alleviate poverty among children youth the aged or persons suffering disabilities or medical conditions by providing basic amenities including food water clothing personal hygiene items and medicine. Advance education by - providing publicly available scholarships and bursaries to individuals who are deserving and/or in need to pursue secondary or post-secondary education and - providing public educational courses seminars and workshops for children and youth on chinese language and the ideology philosophy and practices of tzu chi. - establishing and operating a public school of traditional chinese medicine to educate and train students to become certified practitioners of traditional chinese medicine - conducting and disseminating medical research on topics relating to traditional chinese medicine - providing seminars and workshops for the public to increase knowledge of traditional chinese medicine and - operating publicly accessible day care and early education programs for chidlren and their families. Promote health by establishing and operating a non-profit health care clinic to provide traditional chinese medicinal treatments to the public
