Budapest Jewish Cemetery Heritage Fund

Rescuing one of the top 3 largest jewish cemeteries in the world from impending destruction. There are over 300 000 souls buried in the cemetery and 65% of the graves are within heavy forest and very difficult to access. Section by section we are restoring this historical monument to a once great society. In addition annual maintenance is of vital importance otherwise conditions revert back to the way they were within 10 years. We began a search for descendants whose ancestors rest in the beautiful masuoleums that line the cemetery's front walls as well some of the more famous personalities. We renovated the beautiful tomb of bernat munkacsi one of the most famous linguists of the hungarian language. His indirect descendants live in canada. We renovated the back road of the cemetery so that cars and trucks could go all the way along the alst 250 metres of the cemetery along the largest sections. Then when reaching the end there are turning circles so that one does not need to reserve all the way out. This significantly improves access for the elderly and inform who struggle to walk these distances.
